ACM Multimedia 2004 Columbia University, New York Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) organizes a number of prestigious exhibitions and conferences around the world. Among them, its annual ACM Multimedia Exhibition recognizes the most socially and technologically relevant works from each year. Pictopia was featured in this exhibition in 2004, held in Columbia University in New York City. The architectural research underlying Pictopia's conception was materialized into a physical installation - an archetypical space of Hong Kong that reproduces the quintessence of its urban experience. This installation demonstrates a convergence between the virtual and the physical, creating a real social space whose protocols can be mirrored in a digital context. ![]() ![]() ![]() Project Team Jape Ip: architectural research Jerry Lam: 3d programming Sunny Ng: network and Java programming Reine Wong: photography and installation design Cathy Yueng: video, animation and design Standard Signage Ltd.: installation contractor Special Thanks to DHL International Ltd.
